I bought this train track set for my nephew’s christmas gift, and it was a hit! The modular system lets him build vertical climbs, bridges, twists, and multi-level tracks, endless combinations mean he’s still coming up with new layouts weeks later. The gravity-defying motorized train stole the show. Its ability to climb, go sideways, and upside down had all the kids gathered around watching in awe. It’s not just fun and STEM-focused. Big hit with the grandkids! Although posted for 3 and up, my 9 year old had a blast playing with these, so much in fact we ordered more to extend the tracks. At first the cubes seemed difficult to pull apart but as soon as you figure out it�s a quick pull and twist you can get them apart easily although the 4 year old did need a little assistance. These come with an instruction booklet of different track set ups but for some it will need another set of track to complete them. Kids learn quickly that just because they want the tracks to go a certain way, with out some adjustments and problem solving they just may not get their way every time! Designing a track that had inverted loops was their favorite thing to do because it was so cool to watch the little train chug along upside down and sideways with out falling off the tracks. The track has a tiny magnetic strip that the train follows along and it does take some thinking ahead, planning, and attention to detail to always get it just right as not all of the track has the magnetic strip on both sides of the blocks. Another cool feature is hanging it sideways on a window, glass door or even your refrigerator with the included suction cups to add to the excitement. There is one little secret not mentioned, it is the blue plastic strip which covers the magnetic strip. It needs to be removed for full functionality of the train, otherwise it may drop off the tracks when upside down or even sideways, it�s easy to remove just a bit time consuming, but once removed you�ll see the difference in how well the engine adheres to the track.
